Tuber Magnatum. Vom lateinischen "Magnus", was "reicher Herr" bedeutet, ist der weiße Trüffel der wertvollste Trüffel schlechthin. Sein Verbreitungsgebiet ist in großen Teilen Italiens vom Piedmont bis Kalabrien. Er hat eine glatte, strohfarbene Oberfläche und eine gelbe Gleba, die manchmal zu Grautönen neigt. Sein Aroma ist intensiv, scharf, und leicht knoblauchartig.
