Das deutsche Familienunternehmen Borgmeier steht seit 1948 für Frische, Qualität und Vielfalt in der Geflügelproduktion. Alle Borgmeier Vertragsaufzuchtbetriebe sind QS-zertifiziert und Teil der Initiative Tierwohl. Neben dem Vertrieb küchenfertiger Geflügelprodukte produziert das Familienunternehmen aus dem Delbrücker Land im Kreis Paderborn auch langsamer wachsende Hähnchen. Diese zu mindestens mit 50 % Mais gefütterten Tiere werden unter der unternehmenseigenen Premiummarke Kikok (Kofferwort aus dem Kikerki-Laut eines Hahnes und dem französischen Coq) geführt. Das langsamere Wachstum der zur Zucht eingesetzten, robusteren Hähnchenrasse fördert die Fleischqualität hinsichtlich des Aromas, Geschmack, Saftigkeit und Konsistenz. Die Fütterung mit Körnermais begünstigt den typisch gelben Farbton ihrer Haut sowie bei Legehennen eine gelbere Eidotterfärbung.
